 The soft glow of the sun’s morning light trickled between the off-white curtains of the lower level windows of a small house that perched on 2188 Downfeather Lane. An orange cat, getting well on into his older years, lay dormant in the small blotches of sun littering the auburn carpet beneath the window sill, his bright grass green eyes flickered open, glowing in the generous amount of sunshine. Aubrey was the cat’s name. He was five years old, and had not known any other life than that of a spoiled pampered house cat. Every day was the same routine, get up, maybe do a couple laps around the sof
